NZ Surf Academy is a respected surf company operating since 2009 across Northland, Matakana Coasts, Orewa & Mount Maunganui. We promote surfing education for schools, surf lessons, international student surf tours, holiday & after school programmes, corporate team building & family surf days.
Our skilled surf coaching, stunning locations and pure love of the ocean make us unique. We've got the surfing bug and we're keen to pass it on!
Our Mission
Our mission is to teach the fundamentals of surfing and adventure with an emphasis on participation, education, safety and above all fun. Our goal is to have a healthy, successful company that is a leader in customer service while respecting and making little impact on the environment.
At NZ Surf Academy we don't measure our success by the volume of clients using our service but by the quality of your surfing experience, which means great lessons & trips with satisfied, enthusiastic customers. We use the best equipment available, from our surfboards to wetsuits, ensuring a safe enjoyable environment. NZ Surf Academy are accredited by Surfing New Zealand and the International Surfing Association.

As surfers we are very aware of our natural environment, after all, the ocean is our playground. To protect our way of life we need to ensure we preserve our oceans and surrounding areas, The NZ Surf Academy tries, at all times, to be as eco-friendly as possible. We will educate and pass on the eco-friendly message to all those who will listen.

We operate in some of New Zealand's most beautiful untouched scenery, it's as though nature designed the Northland coastline with surfers in mind. Tiny coves, long sandy beaches, river mouths, point breaks, sandbars and reefs.....all within a short drive across 3 coasts.
The true beauty behind us is its mobility. Surf conditions change and because of our mobility we’re able to teach on nothing but the best Northland has to offer that day. Safety being a top priority as well as match your ability to the perfect waves for you!
Tawharanui Regional Park is set on a remote peninsula which boasts some of the Auckland region's most beautiful white sand beaches, rolling pastures, native coastal forest and regenerating wetlands. We are privileged to be the only surf school to have a concession to operate at Tawharanui. Come and join us for our weekend lessons.
At Orewa we run our School Education and Holiday Surf Programmes. Orewa is an extremely safe beach to surf offering open spaces with long gentle rolling safe waves.
Mount Maunganui, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in New Zealand. “The Mount” is almost surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, with a stunning beach on one side of the peninsular and the sheltered waters of the harbour on the other.
We only operate Surfing Education for schools at The Mount and have the flexibility to surf different locations to suit the conditions. We offer all types of surfing education for Primary, Intermediate, Secondary an International Schools.
