Terms & Conditions
Booking & Payment
When booking a course, a contract is made when the booking is confirmed by NZ Surf Academy, either in writing or by email. In the case of last-minute phone bookings, where written confirmation is not possible, a verbal agreement will constitute a contract.
Full payment for individuals or groups is due at the time of booking or upon arrival at the beach location. Payment can be made via cash, credit card, or internet banking. The person making the booking accepts responsibility for payment for everyone in the booking and must ensure all individuals included in the booking have read and understand these Terms and Conditions.
For Schools & Education Providers, an invoice will be sent after the event, payable within 7 days of receipt by internet banking or company cheque.
Changing the Booking
NZ Surf Academy will make every effort to accommodate any changes requested after a booking has been confirmed, subject to the availability of course dates, places, and instructors.
If the group size decreases from the original booking, NZ Surf Academy must be notified in writing at least 7 days before the lesson. If the changes are made less than 7 days before the lesson, the original booking fee remains payable in full.
Cancellations
All cancellations must be submitted in writing (by email whenever possible) and are effective from the date they are received by NZ Surf Academy. Cancellation fees are as follows:
• More than 7 days before the lesson/tour date: 15% of the total cost
• Less than 7 days before the lesson/tour date: 50% of the total cost
• Less than 24 hours before the lesson/tour date: 100% of the total cost
Surf Conditions
In cases where NZ Surf Academy deems sea conditions unsuitable for surf instruction, participants will have the following options:
1. Reschedule the lesson to an alternative date or time.
2. Receive a credit voucher for a future lesson.
Credit vouchers are valid for one year from the date of issue, subject to availability, and lessons must be booked in advance.
Liability and Important Information
Surfing carries inherent risks to people and property, even under qualified supervision. Participants must have a reasonable level of swimming ability and physical fitness.
All participants must disclose any medical conditions, illnesses, allergies, or medications on the booking form. Participants with heart conditions or who are pregnant should not engage in lessons. No participant should be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication that may impair physical or mental abilities during the lesson.
All participants must follow the instructions of NZ Surf Academy and its coaches for safety purposes.
Equipment provided by NZ Surf Academy is to be used during lesson times only. Participants are responsible for immediately reporting any damage to the equipment.
NZ Surf Academy does not limit or exclude liability for personal injury or loss of life caused by its negligence or that of its employees. However, NZ Surf Academy is not liable for personal injury, loss, damage, or third-party claims arising from any circumstances beyond its control.
